My inspiration in art is drawn primarily from Primitif, Naive, Visionary and urban city realism. When I paint, I am usually drawing upon how time affects the way I interpret the creation of my memories and present life. I am interested in exploring the female portrait in terms of a historical journey of identity to the present. Colour composition and the decorative, in terms of our own and other cultures fascinate me. I gather ideas from my memory of travel, my love of nature as well as the transmutation of beauty, decor and the carnivalesque in the every-day urban city and the modern fairytale.
