Profile/CV

My work explores the boundaries between video and painting; between the transient and the tangible, the contemporary and the traditional. The passing series of paintings are all on large sheets of aluminium.  They draw their inspiration from video which is shot through car and train windows.  These are not conventional landscapes, they are fragments of image viewed at speed, stretched, frozen and recreated with the paintbrush.  My subject matter is the fleeting moment but my method of working means each painting takes days and sometimes weeks to complete.  It is this pairing of opposites, the fact that I am attempting to make the transient tangible, which intrigues me.
