Christina Mitrentse is an established, multidisciplinary artist and educator based in London.With an A. Onassis foundation fellowship she awarded an MA Fine Art and P.G dip. from Chelsea College of Art & Design and a PGCE from Greenwich University London. Mitrentse investigates the esoteric qualities of cultural construction through processes of drawing, Book Art, painting, print, sculpture, installation and conceptual appropriation. For the last 10 years she has been creating poetic ensembles of non-normalised temporary institutions such as schools, libraries, churches and museums. Her well selebrated exhibition in London ‘Building my Library’, 2008 successfully attracted positive reviews.
Mitrentse has exhibited extensively in galleries, museums and public spaces internationally including the Liverpool Biennial UK, ICA London, NDSM-werf Amsterdam, Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art Greece, Royal Academy, UK, Town Hall Thessaloniki. Her work has been profiled and reviewed in major publications including AN Magazine, Frieze, Art Monthly , Interartive , and has been acquired by prestigious private and public collections in Europe and USA including Greenwich Council, Woman’s Library Goldsmiths College, Sill Library Bath, Tate Archive, Zabludowicz Collection, London, Griechische Kultustiftung Berlin, M. Altenman N.Y, Onassis Foundation Athens, Benaki Museum Athens, E.Venizelos Airport Athens.
