Leeds based photographer and lens based media artist with extensive teaching experience. Claire's artwork concentrates attention on the ways in which people and places are portrayed and perceived. Through re-representation, she challenges externally imposed identities and the expectations which follow. Often a reaction to an awareness of how media and other cultural representations do not fit with her own experience, Claire's work seeks to reveal alternative identities to those more commonly described.
Claire's most recent work has concentrated on constructions of motherhood, using the role of artist as a comparitor to examine how women who mother are (mis)represented and (under)valued.
