Inspiration for my work comes from nature and the environment.
I choose to draw attention to the beauty, which is caused by the passage of time and exposure to natural elements. Structures, details and the forms of buildings can be lost through destruction, neglect and decay to reveal even more interesting surfaces, shapes, textures and patterns.
Buildings have energy and life, a history, they hold impressions, memories of peoples lives, a connection to the past, a sense of place and identity.
The main themes for my textile work arew carpets of leaves and the knarled grainy texture of tree bark, also the pebbles of Brighton beach and the rock pools further up the coast.
