Eileen Haring Woods is an artist, curator, writer and producer. Originally from New York City, my background includes art, theatre, music, film, festivals, design and production. I worked for many years with arts and the environment, including public realm development and animation in central London, and throughout Hertfordshire.
Most recently as Senior Partner in Haring Woods Studio, I have been the Artistic Director for Gunpowder Park, a 5 year experimental arts and environment programme, working with international artists including Robert Wilson and his Watermill Center, Andre Dekker and Observatorium, Simon Faithfull, Michael Pinsky, Tomas Saraceno, Karen Lois Whiteread, The Harrisons, UP Projects and many many more. As a member of the Global Steering Committee for the Interdependence Movement, I work closely with political, cultural and faith leaders around the world, to promote the ideas of Interdependence throughout society. As a Friend of the United Nations Environment Programme Safe Planet Campaign, I worked to position the arts as a catalyst for change at community through to UN levels.
After many years working with interdisciplinary teams, I am now focusing on my own practice of photography and filmmaking. My prime interest with photography is in the public realm, public spaces and how people influence spaces for the better and for the worse. My filmmaking includes extended interviews with leading artists working in public spaces, inlcuding Christo, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Joseph Kosuth, Charles Quick and Vong Phaophanit and Claire Obousier.
