Fatima Zahra Hassan is a visual artist, educator and a researcher, trained in Visual Islamic and Traditional Arts. She specialised in Middle Eastern and South Asian Manuscript Illustration and miniature Painting. Fatima Zahra studied Sacred Geometry/Islamic Patterns with reference to analytical and cosmological approach. Besides, she also studied Geometry/ Biomorphic Design with reference to surface design and embellishments. She has worked as an artist/designer and a consultant for various international organisations. She has undertaken many international art and design commissions with reputable individuals and organisations. She currently teaches at the college of Fine Arts and Design, university of Sharjah and is a visiting artist/tutor in UK and Pakistan. She also introduced new courses in University of London’s World Art Programme in Islamic art and Design held at the British Museum, Asia House London. She has conducted many workshops and given talks in museums in UK on Indian, Mughal and Persian Painting. Many of her students whom she taught and trained are placed well and are already established designers, painters, illustrators and educators. She is part of international research groups and publishes on Middle Eastern and South Asian art with an approach that bridges the practice with theory.
