Helen Foot

Profile/CV

Helen Foot graduated from the Royal College of Art with a Masters in woven textiles in 2010. With a mixture of industry and self set projects she developed her sense of colour and personal style, creating fabrics for fashion. Most recently she has been freelance designing for Paul Smith, creating fabrics for scarves and ties and has worked on projects through the college with DAKS, Tricia Guild of Designers Guild and Orla Kiely. Her strong use of colour lead her to do a placement with Holbrook Studios who work on colour forecasting. As well as having her work shown at the annual Work in Progress show at the college some of her pieces were featured on the WGSN website during her first year. She received sponsorship for her studies two years running from the Worshipful Company of Weavers. Prior to returning to study Helen was the studio manager for London based woven textile design company Wallace Sewell and worked with them setting up trade shows as well as overseeing the day to day running of the studio. Before gaining this position she had been a freelance weaver for interior textile company SALT. Helen gained a BA Hons in textiles from Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton) in 2005. She showed her work at the Business Design centre in London as part of the New Designers exhibition the same year. During her BA she did a long work placement with weaver Margo Selby.
