Ian Wilson
Profile/CV
Fine Artist | Painter
For the last few years I have been obsessing over the subject matter of portraiture, and developing not only my ability but also my approach to the subject. Recently my work has paid particular attention to a matter closer and more personal to me, my family. When having such a connection and a history with the subjects I am painting, I have been able to create representational pieces in a painterly way, without having them mimic a photograph. I feel I have been able to capture the personality and emotion of each subject, through careful consideration when selecting the composition to work with. The outcome of this has resulted in a body of work that is powerful, dramatic, and at the same time delicate and most importantly real. These are bold paintings with small intimate stories.
