Inge Jacobsen

Artist and emroiderer appropriating found images - often advertising imagery. I use thread directly on the paper as a way of physically intervening and appropriate images. I call this ‘hijacking’ the image and its intended message.

The use of embroidery on contemporary commercial images is my way of connecting traditional, largely feminine, interests from the past with the present day. It is also a way of reclaiming the female form using traditional female craftsmanship (largely seen in my pornographic illustrations.)

Exhibited internationally, from London to New York to Paris.
Other achievements include winning the Director’s choice award at the final Cork Street Exhibition, London, in 2013 and featured on websites, blogs and in publications worldwide. Publications include Vogue, Juxtapoz Magazine, Frankie Magazine, FAD and more. In 2012 I was included in a list of the top 20 rising talents by a prominent Danish lifestyle magazine.

In 2011 I worked with world renowned luxury brand Georg Jensen, to re-energies their Spring/Summer 2012 campaign which was exhibited globally.

Recent commissions include American Express, Le Bon Marché and Duvelleroy.
