Profile/CV

My work is from the point of view of a sculptor. The work ranges in medium and materials from performance to video from installation to audio and kinetics. It is essential that my work be examined in relationship to my personal history. The work produced earlier in my career with the artist-led visual arts group Fine Rats International is crucial in respect to my ongoing concerns for the site-specific. Exploring space whether in the urban landscape like ‘Under Spaghetti Junction’ in Birmingham or fixed within the walls of interior spaces like ‘Breathing Space’ an installation designed for Artspace in Sydney, Australia, the investigation centre’s around the space and the audience. Direct action between artwork and audience drives a clear desire to confront contemporary issues, social order and the transparent borders within which, societies exists. These societies are creating and pushing a constant need for the unknown, the unexplored, culminating in a spiral of destruction and mayhem…but we like it like that, don’t we?
