Jane Bolden
Profile/CV
A practising artist for more than 25 years showing work on a regular basis for the past 15. Recent exhibitions include Open Seam, a solo show of 30 artworks in the Education Department of Homerton University Hospital. This is an extract from the Curator’s description of the work: “Through multiple layers of tearing, sifting, and carefully arranging papers she constructs a mysterious and poetic image that evokes a world outside of time that the viewer can momentarily inhabit. Her monoprints are scored and scratched, pitted and dotted with traces of movement and the dissolving fragments of signs..… Shapes and forms appear and retreat into the rich earthy colours that saturate and soften the imagination. Other works have a distinctly architectural preoccupation and one can discern portals, subways, bridges and towers looming up out of these monochrome juxtapositions of cut and pasted papers…..” Art Education: An Art Foundation year at Chelsea School of Art was followed by a degree in Fine Art at Hornsey Art School. This was an open and conceptual course which encouraged the exchange of ideas and individual development. It has been a gradual process of learning, exploring and developing ideas.
