Joanna Rose Tidey
Profile/CV
Completed a BA in Fine Art at the University of East London where i built up a body of work where fragility, suspension and falling, transformation, repetition, decay and the ephemeral became recurring themes. Previously these were conveyed in works using solely white tack and thread, I introduced natural landscape installations within a white cube setting. These have invited spiders and flies into my work where they took up residence in my installations, treating them like prefab homes. This was a natural progression looking into the subject of human intervention and nature. Since graduating i have carried on this interest of nature and human intervention. I have late comers from my degree show of Giant Silk Moths in my room, sharing my living space with them. With this i have been looking into the way we inhabit a space and how the environments we exist in effect that of nature where they co-exist within a space, get accidently contained, struggle to get free form this container we live.
