Julie Read B.A.(Hons) PGCE, is an artist working in drawing and digital media combined with traditional and digital print processes. Her art is based on ideas of existence, who we are and what makes us different to the next person, something that fascinates many. She aims to produce objects/images that intrigue the viewer that are accessible to an audience, to draw upon their personal interpretations and experiences to fully engage in the work. The strength of the work is in the subtle allusion rather than in an obvious manner.

She has worked with a variety of media - printmaking, digital print also installation, video, photography and light. Much of the work is derived from portraiture but does so in the absence of the major ingredient, the human face. Instead she uses the body, language, and land.

15 years experience as an artist exhibiting nationally and internationally, demonstrates Julie’s ability to responsibly and conscientiously manage projects, and take on varying roles, requiring adaptability. Her work is held in public and private collections and she is the recipient of a number of awards and bursaries that demonstrates peer recognition.
