Karin Janssen Project Space is an independent exhibition space, founded in 2011, run and programmed by Dutch artist Karin Janssen.
Karin Janssen Project Space provides a platform for emerging and established artists from the UK and abroad, with a curatorial practice that is closely linked to Karin’s practice as an artist. After four years of being comfortably nestled in a renovated former hairdressers on Well Street in Hackney, East London, evidently a part of the local community in between a family butcher and a pound shop, it is time for Karin Janssen Project Space to spread its wings to broader horizons and in January 2015 we will be expanding to China! Shanghai will be the base of the gallery, but the interaction between London, the Netherlands and Shanghai will become an important part of the gallery's practice. The aim of the coming years is to work as a connecting presence between the UK, Europe and Asia, organising exhibitions in London, the Netherlands and Shanghai. Karin Janssen and her Project Space are not leaving; they are just going ahead to explore the Asian art world. But we'll be back.
