Katie Amelia Tildesley

I consider myself to be a fine artist and sculptor, I like to make challenging and thought provoking art that questions today’s cultural ideals. My work draws from current trends and attitudes toward the extremities of weight loss or gain and also the growing culture of rebranding or reconstructing the human form through aesthetic surgery. I have engineered a series of works that explore and challenge these concepts. The contrast between industrial materials and latex create a sense of a female figure that has been constructed according to commercial standards. The added animation of the customised air pump introduces a new element to the work, a sense of humanised, slightly robotic movements of inflating and deflating, further enhancing its engineered quality.
