Kay Hood

Profile/CV

My practice is inspired by clean white sheets pegged on a washing line.I enjoy the effect of light and shade due to time of day and changing weather conditions - wind, sunlight, frost. My paintings reflect this.  I paint in oils incorporating the actual bacground canvas into the work along with thinned down paint and delicate graphite drawing to give the illusion of light floating fabric. I use thicker paint in dark tones to convey shadows.  Although ambiguous my work remains firmly rooted in reality
