Leanne Bell Gonczarow's practice encompasses digital photography, video, book and installation and utilises image and text. It is either site or object responsive.
A driving force of the practice is a fascination with light, particularly our relationship with the sun and our emotional responses to how its light passes over the earth. Works document the transformative power of light in relation to particular objects and places of significance either personally or historically, drawing attention to particular moments in time and space. Several pieces have explored the integration of the documented 'light' back into its original context, through the use of projection, print and photographic transfer.
The works operate though a simple tension between opposites such as inside/outside, fact/fiction, truth/illusion, fleeting/permanent and utilise the relationship between the physical and digital to communicate these conceits.
