Much of Linda Brothwell’s work is based upon acts of intervention. She often uses traditional craft techniques (many practised now by few people) to repair and intervene upon objects. This subversion of traditional craft deals with both the familiar language of hand skills, slow making and the trace of the hand, whilst unfamiliar or unexpected locations or focus seeks to raise questions of re-use, time and value.
Linda Brothwell is an RCA Metalwork and Jewelery graduate and lives and works in London. She was a nominee for the Designs of the Year exhibition at the Design Museum and has recently participated in British Council projects in Lisbon and South Korea.
