Profile/CV

Supine Studios is a small collective of Artists and Musicians living in a house in Hackney, North East London. In our intimate surroundings of clutter and garbage we have an Art Studio, a Gallery space, a Workshop and a Recording Studio in which we do wonderful things.

Those currently residing at SS are Cibelle Bastos, Surya Buck, Alistair Wildblood, Simon Ribchester, Jonathan Batten and Jacob Andreason. And we have an extended family of people we consider Supines: Lucy Norman, Lisa Farrell, Dave Human, Kay Watson, Eugenia Evanissevich and Rose Hall to name but a few...

We host regular exhibitions in the Studio, about one a month. The space lends itself well to solo shows although we have hosted large group shows too. We have had a busy year this year, and we have produced a catalogue for the last series of five exhibitions, which have been currated by Supines Al and Eugy (check out our 'Past Events' for details of these shows). If you would like to get a copy, please send us an email. The catalogue is £5.

Supine Studios also runs a monthly clubnight at Bardens Boudoir. Its on the forth friday of every month. The nights are always themed, with the artists from Supine building sets and props to turn the bar into 'something', as well as dressing up themselves. Previous nights have been BIRDS BIRDS BIRDS with the Agitator and the Gaggle, ICE AGE with the Laurel Collective, FACE VALUE with Shimmy Rivers And Canal, and JUNGLE with Cibelle and the XX. Keep an eye on our events for the next one!

Supine Studios also hosts small acoustic festivals in our studio. They are one night affairs with lots of bands, food and a cheap bar. At our most ambitious to date, we had 20 acts play in 6 hours! These festivals happen every four months or so.

Artists who have used the music studio include our own Cibelle (herself), and from elseware: Dev from Lightspeed Champion, Barbarossa, Johnny Flynn, Josh Weller, the Mules, Peggy Sue, A-Human, the Bleeding Heart Narrative, the Good Shoes and Emmy the Great.
