Maeve Curtis, a graduate of National University of Ireland, Galway, gained a First Class Honours Degree in Fine Art from GMIT, Ireland. She was awarded both the AIB Graduate of the Year in Paint and the Galway City and Galway County Council Emerging Artist Award. Her practice is conceptually driven and her work, ranging in medium from paint to sculptural installations, has been selected for Tulca (2010, 2007, 2004), Claremorris Open (2007, 2005), Iontas (2007), RDS Art Awards (2006), Glor (2007), Impressions Open (2008), Galway Arts Festival (2010). Her work has been selected for exhibition and for this year's prestigious Threadneedle Prize at the Mall Galleries, London.
Curtis has also exhibited previously with Norman Villa Gallery and Claremorris Gallery in three person shows and has also had solo exhibitions with Galway Arts Centre and Norman Villa Gallery. In addition to her studio practice, Curtis is Chairperson of Engage Art Studios and also works as a freelance art educator with Rehabcare, Galway Arts Centre and Cancer Care West. Her work has been purchased for both private and public collections most notably by the OPW for the collection of the President of Ireland and recently for the Galway City Council collection.
