Maurice Carlin is a Manchester based artist. In 2007, he co-founded Islington Mill Art Academy, a free self organised art school. The Academy exists to experiment with what an education in art can be, where it can take place and how it can be paid for. It is open to anyone who is interested in taking responsibility for the way in which they intend to do this. Since it’s inception the school has undertaken residencies in the Lake District, Berlin and Glasgow, written for Frieze and Art Monthly and worked with galleries such as Transmission Glasgow, The Arnolfini Bristol and the ICA in London.Website www.islingtonmill.com
