Melanie Wotton

Melanie Wotton is a painter exploring the holistic experience of landscape from a journey to a place, to walking, collecting and observing, to the return home and reflection of these experiences. Incidents of light which can transform objects so that they appear to hang in space, are sources of inspiration, together with the internal and physical connection to landscape. Studio work explores the immersive and dramatic effects of colour, panoramic and compressed space, process, gesture and rhythm, and the way in which multifarious media images can transform our memories of landscape so that they can seem porous , layered and fragmented.

I have recently worked on a large commission for the public spaces within a new state of the art facility at a University Hospital in Cardiff, and am also collaborating on a project exploring interactive art for people suffering with dementia.
