Michael Aderemi Adeoye is an academic staff of the Department of Theatre and Media Arts, Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, Nigeria, specialising in Theatre Design and Set Construction. He was trained at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (1999-2003), and the University of Ibadan, Ibadan (2008-2010) obtaining Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Fine Arts and Visual Arts respectively. During and after his secondary education, he had also been apprenticed to a famous master painter, Diran Adeleye, at the D. D. Fine Arts Studio, Ojumose Square, Ado-Ekiti. From 1989 to 1993, he established an Art Studio at Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti before pursuing formal art education. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Performance Studies at the Institute of African Studies, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria, given the relevance of his educational backgrounds and professional practice as grounds to consider the theatre a melting pot for all forms of art.
In addition to his academic distinctions and prizes, he has won national awards in recognition of his outstanding contributions to national development through art. On the 1st of June 2005, he was honoured by the Presidency and Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Abuja, Nigeria with the national Young Entrepreneurs award and consequent recognition to participate in the Works of My Tender Hands National Exhibition in commemoration of the 2005 Democracy Day.
Adeoye is a member such professional bodies as Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA), Society of Nigeria Theatre Artists (SONTA), Nigerian Writers Forum (NWF), Ona Arts Movement, Member, Atunda Arts Movement, Best of Ife Group, Institute of Corporate Administration, Nigeria. A member of the defunct Radio Berlin International DX Club, Germany, he has participated in over twenty-five national and international exhibitions, performances and conferences.
