I salvage the trees that fall under the axe of nature or man. I then strive to give then a new life, a rebirth, an avatar. It is thus a form of evolution that transforms them from their original state into an object that is both aesthetic and useful while keeping its natural virtues. Working on each piece I reveal the inner life of the log by letting the grain, age rings and different layers of bark express themselves. I then explore any life stories such as gashes from the woodcutters, bear claws, beaver teeth and or deer antler marks. The final process, by adding legs, transforms them into functional pieces of art. It is thus a radical transformation from its original form as a tree: a revolution.
