Orly Aviv creates using photography, video, music, sculpture & installation. The innovation in her captivating projects lies in the use of sophisticated digital technologies, introducing her own rare style of "art-science-technology", empowered by her education (Brain research, Information Systems, Mathematics and Political Science). Aviv pushes artistic boundaries, merging art with scientific methods in order to achieve a coherent representation of individual coping. Aviv constantly explores new techniques to engage ordinary scenes in associative ways. The seemingly documentary order is changed into an imaginative one; a direct observation of nature turns into digitized and technological procedures; routine practice suddenly becomes a participation in unique situations involving psychological and philosophical attitudes.
Aviv's work derives from her landscape. Her approach for taking images or video is very natural, ecological. She maintains the natural habitat which she perceives, never returning to the same place to shoot again, encapsulating the magic, the inspiration, the specific moment in time and place. By transforming the footage into artwork, its potential is established; a shift from the initial perception to the final manifestation of her imagination. "When I am with my camera, I see the outside world around me as if in a dialogue with my inner world. Landscapes, and especially open, wide and remote from human presence, offer me an endless body and mind experience" (Aviv, 2014).
Aviv works are shown internationally, to mention a few:, Berlin Photo Month, 5th European Month of Photography at Ostkreuz, NY, Royal College of Art, London; Haun Tie Art Museum, Beijing; Festival of Light-Brazilia; National Centre for Contemporary Arts, Moscow; Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts; KAUNAS PHOTO Festival, Imagem DA Encontros, Braga, Portugal; Los Angeles, CA; CCCB.
