I am a French artist born in Algeria. I live and work in the UK, trained as an artist in Ecuador, France and England and graduated from the University of Brighton with an M.A Fine Art in 2008. I was twice recipient of a prestigious Leverhulme Trust Award.
My recent work is an exploration into identity diaspora and postcolonialism as well as a new more psychological and personal departures into questioning the self: Our personal identity is influenced by a multitude of factors and is constantly recreated and re-conceived. It is a fragile and ephemeral construction that we build on day after day.
Place is of major importance in this constant recreation of the self and my exploration of physical, mental, political and mythical geographies is testimony to the primal importance of our personal myth of origins.
