Reynir Hutber

Profile/CV

My current art practice combines elements of performance, video and installation
and is broadly concerned with the devices through which social behaviour is coerced,
monitored and evaluated. Rather than focus on the production of objects, I stage
open-ended scenarios whose implications are ultimately determined by the audience’s
response and interaction. My recent projects often focus on how we, as spectators,
relate to images of suffering and endurance. I examine these concerns through the
lens of an era in which the authenticity of a visual document is increasingly hard
to verify and a sense of disconnection or oversaturation is a common by-product of
life in the “first” world.
