Robert has specialized in portraits and human figures for over 20 years. He has work in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery, The V&A, and several other collections.
Robert creates portraits, anything from a formal likenesses hung at places like the Royal Society or Oxford University, to provocative and playful nude studies on show at places like the ICA, or a variety of experimental spaces.
He often combines intimate photographic portraiture with his subjects’ answers to themed questions. His background in law, publishing, sustainable development work in West Africa, and radical prison reform enables him to draw on a wide range of experiences and insights when creating projects.
He sees his work principally as a form of entertainment and pleasure, for him, his subjects and his audiences.
