Ron Arad Biography - ArtLyst
Ron Arad was born in Tel Aviv in 1951. He studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Art and at the Architectural Association in London. He is currently Professor of Design Product at the Royal College of Art in London.
Arad’s constant experimentation with the use of materials such as steel, aluminium or polyamide and his radical re-conception of the form and structure of furniture has put him at the forefront of contemporary design.
Arad has produced an outstanding array of innovative objects over the past twenty-five years, from almost unlimited series of objects to carbon fiber armchairs and polyurethane bottle racks. He has also designed memorable spaces, some plastic and tactile, others ethereal and digital. The exhibition at New York's MOMA is the first major retrospective of Arad's design work in the United States.
