Rowena Murray
Profile/CV
I'm a jeweller, from a craft background, with some luxury design experience thrown in for good measure. All these aspects I like to channel into jewellery and objects which appeal to people from different walks of life.
Born in England, from the age of nine I grew up in Donegal, Ireland and went on to do a degree in metals at NCAD in Dublin, graduating in 2005. After this I took part in a luxury design course in Milan, which led to freelance design work for Van Cleef & Arpels. Following a stint as a watch designer at Links of London, I then took a place on the GSM&J course at the Royal College of Art.
I graduated from the college this year (2010) with a collection based around interaction with nature, as experienced in childhood. For this collection I won the Best Work in Jewellery prize at the Theo Fennell Awards and have been shortlisted for the Sustain 2010 Awards.
I'm now based in Switzerland, where I've set up my own studio. Recent exhibitions include the Theo Fennell Awards exhibition (Oct 2010), Sustain 2010 at the Royal College of Art and the Graduate Show at Galerie Marzee. Next up is 'Earthly Treasures' at Gill Wing Jewellery in Islington (Nov-Jan '11)
