Profile/CV

Through the action of tightrope walking I hope to experience balance and imbalance. By exploring these dual existences I often fall and almost always try to regain a sense of stability. Through durational performances I attempt to stay on the slack line for as long as is physically possible. Sometimes I fall off straight away, at other times I am able to do a few turns and then plummet to the ground. My pre-occupation with keeping balance stems from a residency I did in France where I practiced on a wire tightrope for an hour every day. Line-Walk is a departure from this approach where the slack-line is placed higher off the ground and can be more challenging due to the rope moving as one walks across. My artwork often reflects an approach to actions where success and failure exist paradoxically, setting myself tasks or situations that are doomed to fail or at best I will learn the basics.
