"Organic is curved, organic is asymmetrical, organic is natural materials, organic is individualistic, organic is holistic.” Sidney K Robinson
“My work is about nature, texture and most importantly how (my sculptures as my extension) and humans belong, need and act in nature."
SILVIA KRUPINSKA ORGANIC SCULPTOR
Silvia Krupinská (1980) is a London based organic contemporary sculptor of Slovak origin (Poprad). She moved to London in 1999 where she studied Fine Art at Chelsea School of Art and Design. Her sculptures and paintings are outcomes of the exploration of nature and natural textures. The surfaces have become her obsession. Krupinska isn't copying the natural surfaces, but rather inventing her own using experimental art techniques. She does regular blog posts, radio and TV art reviews about artists and exhibitions.
Most recent developments in her art practice are looking at relationship between humans and nature with accents on the environmental change. She documents, records and passes on her observations to the public in a form of her abalone drawings on paper containing mosaic like mother of pearl flakes put together in shapes of mountain lakes or coastal lines, significant geographical points. She makes works of art based on her direct experience, either walking the beaches, exploring her holiday destinations or escaping to her childhood and the nature that surrounded her in Slovakian Tatra Mountains.
Krupinska has exhibited internationally, including an EU-Art-Network exhibition in Palazzo Albrizzi, Venice, Italy, during The Venice Biennale 2009. She has participated in a number of shows and art symposiums in Austria, Germany and Azerbaijan. Currently reconnecting with Slovakian galleries, Krupinska is planning a number of exciting exhibitions there in the very near future.
