LIVING AND WORKING IN SOUTH LONDON AS ARTIST, ILLUSTRATOR AND WRITER. Working in pen and ink and mixed media. Prints and originals available for sale plus commissions undertaken.
originally trained as a graphic designer in th 1980s with an apprenticeship a paste-up artist for a studio in Catford, London, I went onto work as a freelance designer for several companies including Hill & Knowlton and Emap Maclaren. After being Art Editor on several trade publications such as Security Gazette, British Baker and Menswear I worked as a freelance packaging designer for my husbands company working mostly on Dental supplies and materials. I then worked on exhibitions, advertising and ran a lingerie website. My more recent activity has been as a freelance writer and I have self-published an illustrated childrens novel titled: The Land of Lost Thoughts, available to buy through Amazon.co.uk My current writing is by commission or as a freelance for websites and I am on Elance.com.
My art follows the form of symbolism and the current series has been titled, ' Deity' and follows a theme and idea of icon art, renaissance art and the idea of how deity and belief is represented within art throughout the ages. I work in mixed media mosty guache and acrylic but also work with gold-leaf and irridescent paints. My aim is to hide and intrigue. I like to produce work which changes in the light so the painting evolves depending upon its placed situation and the lighting around it.
