Profile/CV

Through the exploration of Embroidery, I aim to transform the seemingly everyday object, altering the original purpose of conventional materials in order to maximise the aesthetic qualities. In the rapidly developing 21st century, video tapes are losing their importance and being sent to landfill sites as re-fuse. This work re-uses and gives new life to this material by ignoring its technical qualities as a store of picture and sound. Instead, it celebrates the aesthetic qualities of a shiny black line that can travel through space. Invading architectural spaces with site specific installations, sculptures and drawings I aim to capture the illusion of movement through a static line. The video tape now records another picture and alludes to other sounds from a different time and place. As one picture is lost, another takes its place.
