The work of Belfast born artist, Susan Francis emcompasses mainly sculpture/installation and, more recently, film and video. With an interest in the hidden contexts and unspoken tensions of the domestic environment, Francis draws on the worn, the re-used and the less than perfect of an 'ordinary 'life. Dissecting combining, reassembling and transforming materials, the artist reworks the trail of debris we leave behind, exposing the poetry that lies buried beneath the quotidian and the mundane.
Susan Francis has a biography of international residencies, solo and group exhibitions with work in private collections in Poland, Northern Ireland and the US. More recently, development into new media has been funded by awards from the Arts Council England and the Juliet Gomperts Trust.
