Victoria Matkin
Profile/CV
I create otherworldly sculptures that discuss themes of veiling, concealment and draping. The translucent sculptures are made by dipping sheets of white cotton fabric in a resin solution that are then draped over a large cylindrical structure. The weight of the fabric with resin allows the material to hang down towards the ground. The size of my work does not directly relate to people, but holds an otherworldly quality, that is reinforced by the translucent appearance of the fabric. When standing along side the sculptures, it is difficult for the viewer not to address their own standing within the environment the work is situated.Website www.victoriamatkin.com
