20 21 International Art Fair Opens For School Half Term

20 21 International Fair

20/21 International Art Fair throws open its doors today, boasting sixty galleries exhibiting art from accross the world

The 20/21 International Art Fair opens today at the Royal College of Art, boasting some sixty exhibiting galleries and presenting work from across the globe. ‘Buy! Buy! Buy!’ Jeffrey Archer urged punters at a brief opening ceremony; and with art from China, India, Japan, Russia, the Ukraine, Poland, Serbia, and, of course, from Britain – with prices starting at the lower end of the market right up to the big bucks – this is the perfect place to do just that.

Particularly exciting (although not particularly affordable) is a beautifully economical 1911 drawing by Modigliani, on sale for £160,000 – in fact a fairly modest sum given that an unfinished version of the work recently sold at Sothebys for 1£93,000. Also noteworthy is a painting by Matisse called Vieux de Marseilles. The work is made even more interesting by its provenance, being originally owned by that key figure of the Bloomsbury group Roger Fry, friend and lover of Vanessa Bell. Having hung for many years at the iconic Charleston house in Sussex, it can now grace your mantelpiece for a mere £220,000!

And, of course, there is the usual host of prints by big names – from spots by Damien Hirst, and masturbatory doodles by Tracey Emin, to Amy Winehouse screenprints by Gerald Laing, and fine line etchings by David Hockney.
