Who says you need money in the bank to be rich! Tony Plant a British artist is the latest person discovered for the San Miguel Rich List, a list of 20 ‘life-rich’ individuals from across the globe who have unique, compelling, aspirational human stories.

Tony has spent the last twenty-five years transforming the landscape into beautiful works of art. His large-scale organic works breathe new and unexpected life into the pristine sands, before being swallowed up by the ocean just hours later.

For the Rich List, Tony was captured delivering a stunning piece on Playa de Sonabia Beach, Spain. On his work and the piece, Tony added, "Like a canvas, a beach is defined by its shape, however, the edges are always moving. My drawings are made one step at a time, as I move forwards out into open space the drawing process happens behind me, out of sight”.

Tony graduated from Chelsea College of Art in 1990 with a fine art painting  degree and has been producing work across a diverse range of media ever since. His work varies from moving image to photography, performance to painting, sculpture, time lapses, temporary interventions, and drawings in the landscape.

It’s this deep respect for the environment, not money, which drives Tony to create, and his talents have seen him transform beaches all over the world, including Scotland, France, Australia, Denmark, Iceland, Spain and Sri Lanka.

Speaking ahead of the campaign, Tony said: “People’s personal stories are locked into landscapes, journey’s of remembrance and discovery. I look at landscapes in an interactive way, my work is governed by tide, weather, and locations and it keeps me energised and curious as there is always another opportunity to start afresh”.

Tony joins award-winning underwater wildlife photographer and cameraman Göran Ehlmé, British cave photographer and explorer Robbie Shone and Spanish horse whisperer and trainer, Simin Najafi who have been captured at work through a series of short documentary films.
