ArtLyst's Guide To The Best Not To Be Missed Events At This Year's Art Circus.

The eyes of the art world will be firmly focused on Florida next week as Art Basel Miami Beach (6-9 December) gets under way. ArtLyst are going to be there, out in force, reporting the best and the worst of alcohol fuelled excesses, and yes whats hot and what's not on the emerging art scene.

This is the USA's largest and most influential art fair. Art Basel Miami is a cultural and social highlight for the Americas. The fair features 257 leading international galleries, with work ranging from Modern to the most contemporary. Special exhibition sections feature young galleries, performance art, public art projects and video art. Now in its 11th year, this four-day event showcases works from over 2,000 artists along with a varied and lively programme of cultural and social events. This year British Galleries are in abundance. UK highlights include the strong collection of Latin and North American artists that they work with, Thomas Dane Gallery will focus on the vibrant sculptural works of artists such as Jose Damasceno, Alexandre da Cunha, Arturo Herrera and also Kelley Walker and Walead Beshty. Herald St will showcase painted works by Matt Connors, Markus Amm. In addition, the gallery will also exhibit a photographic work entitled ‘Fruit Border Photo’ by Peter Coffin. Bernard Jacobson Gallery are presenting works by the gallery artists including works by Robert Motherwell, Helen Frankenthaler and Pierre Soulages.

Lisson Gallery will be showcasing works by Georg Baselitz, Tracey Emin, Theaster Gates, Antony Gormley, Andreas Gursky, Damien Hirst, Zhang Huan, Gary Hume, Robert Irwin, Liza Lou, Christian Marclay, Josiah McElheny, Julie Mehretu, Damián Ortega, Magnus Plessen, Jeff Wall, and Cerith Wyn Evans.

Victoria Miro will be showing Works by: Doug Aitken, Hernan Bas, Verne Dawson, Thomas Demand, Peter Doig, William Eggleston, Inka Essenhigh, David Harrison, Christian Holstad, Chantal Joffe, Isaac Julien, Idris Khan, Yayoi Kusama, Wangechi Mutu, Alice Neel, Maria Nepomuceno, Philip Pearlstein, Conrad Shawcross, Adriana Varejao, Francesca Woodman.
