For their collaboration with Absolut Art Bureau, Los Carpinteros have created an open-air art bar inspired by the güiro, the ubiquitous Cuban percussion instrument made from a dried hard shell, tropical fruit, as well as the word used in Cuban slang to connote a party. Oval in shape, the transparent container will be lit from within to emphasize its grid structure. It’s rectangular openings will function as seating for  visitors, while the center will be occupied by a round bar, serving bespoke cocktails concocted by the artists throughout the duration of the fair. The shelves will store a selection of books, bottles, and random objects selected by the artists. The Güiro will be accompanied by a curated program of live music, performances and activities which round off the immersive artistic experience of the bar. Art Nova

Galerie Kamm – The works of Kate Davis, Charlie Hammond and Kathrin Sonntag focus in a subjective way on situations of a historical, political and everyday nature. All three artists reshape reality in their own intensely personal way, bringing to our attention issues that otherwise remain at the fringes of our perception.

Teresa Margolles most recent work PM 2010 (2012) will be presented. It shows the covers of the local newspaper PM from Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, published within the year 2010, the deadliest year the city ever saw where not a day went by without at least 10 homicides.

Jorge Macchi will be presented with his work Illumination (2012). The large object captures one’s attention immediately. Seemingly effortless a pointy star balances itself on the ground, and only a second look reveals the weight of the material: Cement. It takes a third glance to recognize the true nature of the object: This is no star, but rather a bundle of light beams that belong to seven flashlights.
