Next week Miami plays host to Art Basel – This once a year excessive art overdose comes complete with palm trees and caters to the serious and not so serious minded. Art Basel Miami week is a magnet for the international cultural core who annually   descend on this vibrant Art Deco resort, to pay homage to the Gods of visual art. This is the definitive end of year barometer, which determines the state of the current art market. Like Art Basel (Switzerland) and Frieze, these events are primarily glorified art trade shows. Lets not lose sight of their real purpose. The galleries involved are there to sell and this is a one stop destination to look admire and buy art. On the bright side, as well as the endless parties, satellite fairs, exhibitions and solo shows, there is actually a huge amount of quality content to wash down with your Ruinart. This year Artlyst will be in Miami for the duration of the fair, publishing diary updates with useful tips on where to go and what to see. Here is a list of all of the main and satellite fairs, with a few recommended must see exhibitions. We are concentrating on the events that are promoting new and emerging work. British galleries and artists will also be highlighted in this comprehensive guide. If by any chance we have missed your event and you think you should be recommended in this guide drop me an email and I will update the entry, once a day. After all Artlyst is a community and we are here to help not exclude.

It is now one of the world’s largest, privately owned contemporary art collections. Since 1993, the RFC has been exhibited within a 45,000-square-foot repurposed Drug Enforcement Agency confiscated goods facility in Miami, Florida. The museum and its sculpture garden are publicly accessible. The collection is constantly expanding and features such well-known artists as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Cady Noland, Cindy Sherman, Kara Walker and Andy Warhol. In addition to displaying internationally established artists, the RFC actively acquires, exhibits and champions emerging artists working at the forefront of contemporary art.
