Art Below Launches Pop Up Gallery in Pimlico
Art Below Pimlico exhibition London 15 March 2012
For the fifth year running Art Below thrive on providing a mission: To enrich the everyday life of the traveling public by giving fresh insight into the very latest in art, illustration, photography, fashion, whilst at the same time providing a platform for emerging talent. Such exhibitions involve taking over entire walkways, escalators, platforms and passenger lifts, at home and abroad in Berlin and Tokyo with further expansion planned for 2012 in USA and Asia.
They run an ongoing creative membership program where benefits include being able to choose exactly what London tube station you would like to have your work displayed in and for how long. Art Below play host to a rich and diverse portfolio of talent, including leading illustrator Jon Burgerman, 3D Artist Jeffrey Robb, and the world's number one street artist Banksy. We also support new emerging talent and most recently exhibited work by the 20 finalists of The Saatchi Gallery's New Sensations across the whole length of a Regent's Park platform to co-inside with The Frieze Art Fair, 2011.
Win a poster on the London Underground by breathing life onto Art Below Facebook group
It may have come to your attention recently that Facebook are either upgrading the old facebook groups into the new design, or they will be 'archived'.
Well this has come as 'a big smack in the face' for Art Below who have had a facebook group since 2006 and have gradually built a healthy and active following of a few thousand. Now, thanks to Facebook 'archiving' our group we have a group of exactly 10 members!! So First of all I want to say a genuine 'thank you' to those 10 dedicated members for hanging on in there.
So in an attempt to claw our way back, I have decided to launch a new initiative to breathe life and love into this once powerful mother ship of social media! For every 500 new members, Art Below will award 1 free poster space (1m x 1.5m) on the London Underground. To grab a chance of winning that poster space, simply become a member of the Art Below facebook group and upload a piece of your own artwork onto the Wall. We are open to all creative backgrounds including design, fashion, illustration, sculpture, photography and any other ones that I've missed out.
For every new 500 group members we will set a loose theme, starting with the theme of THE DIGITAL AGE. Here's one I did earlier (see attached) We will take into account of how many 'likes' each image gets, but it wont be the central deciding factor that will persuade our judges (to be announced) if you are the winner. As well as being awarded a 1 meter x 1.5 meter poster space in a London Underground station for 2 weeks to show your work, you will also receive a A2 lambda print of your winning design, you will be announced as the winner on www.artbelow.org.uk, on our media partners sites (to be announced) and of course on the Art Below facebook group site.
