Art15 The Final Word On London’s Leading Spring Art Fair

Art15 is now London’s leading spring Contemporary Art fair. They present a wide selection of artists, galleries and collectors from across the globe. The third edition of the fair, which closed on Saturday, ran in a new early summer slot, from 20-23 May at Olympia, London. Under the new directorship of Kate Bryan, Art15 showcased a better presentation of 150 distinctive exhibitors from over 40 countries. The fair reported generating strong sales and continuing to build on significant collector presence. Art15 now places itself at the forefront of London’s summer season and confirms its unique status as one of London’s key art fairs.

Exhibiting artists, galleries and collectors have firmly placed Art15 at the forefront of London’s summer season. Presenting galleries from Amman to Amsterdam, New York to New Delhi, and Sao Paulo to Taipei, the diverse and dynamic exhibitors reflected the Fair’s ambition to foster global networks and introduce both new and established collectors to exceptional galleries and artists from every corne r of the world.

High-profile visitors included collectors from across Asia, Europe and the USA, such as David Roberts (UK), Don and Mera Rubell (USA), Ajay Piramal (UK and India), Usha Mittal (India), Kamir Maleki (UK), Stuart Evans (UK) Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo (Italy), Harald Falckenberg (Germany), Sylvain and Dominique Levy (France), Shalini Hinduja (UK and India), Edward Lawson Johnston (UK) and Wang Wei (China) and Leyla Aliyeva (Azerbaijan). Also in attendance at the Fair were designer Matthew Williamson, singer Florence Welch, designer Mary Katrantzou, comedian Frank Skinner and human rights activist Bianca Jagger.

Ben Quilty at Pearl Lam Gallery

Pearl Lam Gallery Shanghai/Hong Kong/Singapore sold well presenting a selection of works by Chinese and international artists, including Leonardo Drew, Gonkar Gyatso, Gatot Pujiarto, Qin Yufen, Qiu Deshu, Ben Quilty, Ren Ri, Carlos Rolón /Dzine, Su Dong Ping, Su Xiaobai, and Zhu Jinshi.

Andrew Salgado at Beers London 

Beers London reported the sale of two large portraits by Andrew Salgado, sold on the opening day for five figure sums.

Sundaram Tagore Gallery (New York, Hong Kong, Singapore) sold a work by Japanese artist Hiroshi Senju for $350,000 USD, a digital print by Korean artist Kim Joon for $30,000 USD and a work by Iranian artist Golnaz Fathi for $33,000 USD 

0 Chancery Lane Gallery (Hong Kong) sold a work by Huang Rui from his Space Structure series to an important European collector for £60,000 GBP

Omer Tiroche Contemporary Art (London) sold a Julian Opie work for £75,000 GBP

Tezukayam Gallery (Osaka) sold three paintings by Japanese artist, Atsuko Tanaka, a member of the reappraised Gutai group of post-war Japanese action artists, for £150,000, £165,000 and £185,000 GBP, to a Chinese Collector

ARNDT (Berlin and Singapore) sold a painting by Filipino painter Rodel Tapaya for $60,000 USD as well as smaller works by the artist

The Cat Street Gallery (Hong Kong) sold several works by Australian artist Joshua Yeldham ranging from £10,300 to £38,800 GBP and reported a near sell-out booth

PIFO Gallery (Beijing) sold a collage by Chinese artist Liang Quan for £80,000 GBP, in addition to an oil on canvas by Wang Chuan for £33,000 GBP

Galerie RX (Paris) sold a work by Korean artist Bae Bien-U for £22,500 GBP

Galerie Du Monde (Hong Kong) sold two works by Australian artist Juan Ford for £30,000 GBP combined

Galerie Paris Beijing (France, Belgium and China) sold six works from their booth totaling £60,000 GBP

Lin & Lin Gallery (Taipei) sold a work by Spanish artist Jose-Maria Cano for £80,000 GBP

Riflemaker (London) sold work by Chinese artist Wen Wu for £20,000. They also sold collages from the 1970s by British American artist Penelope Slinger for £12,000 each.
