Park Lane, known as Monopoly's most expensive street is now hosting ‘The City of Sculpture Festival’ which transforms the heart of the capital's outdoor parks into a world class art gallery by displaying 60 works of contemporary sculpture. The exhibition has been a hit with Christmas shoppers and it looks set to be one of London's top free cultural events of 2010.  It encompasses new and exciting works from a wide range of international artists. The City of Sculpture Festival is supported and paid for by a number of galleries, including Halcyon which is supplying a piece by Lorenz Quinn , 'Vroom Vroom', a black Fiat Cinquecento grasped in a child's hand, has been placed in the middle of Park Lane. The artwork, which features the artist's actual first car, is intended to evoke 'the child within'. At 15feet (4.6m) high the sculpture is meant to be a playful comment on a pastime Quinn believes many people, and he claims especially men, never grow out of. The area also welcomes a family of jelly babies by Mauro Perucchetti at Marble Arch. Both of these renowned sculptors are currently exhibiting at the Halcyon Gallery. Some of the sites which will display pieces of sculpture for a temporary period from 2010 – 2012 as part of the rolling arts programme which will include Berkeley Square, Hanover Square, Golden Square, Soho Square and Leicester Square. The ambitious project, organised by Westminster City Council, to showcase art in the city, will see a series of world class sculptures installed at prominent sites which people can view for free.

An exhibition of work by Lorenzo Quinn and Mauro Perucchetti is now on at the Halcyon Gallery at 29 New Bond Street from 18 November 2010 – 8 January 2011.
