Damien Hirst Chosen To Design 2013 Brit Award

Damien Hirst, known for his 'Shark in a Tank' and numerous spot paintings has been chosen to design next year's Brit Award. As creator of the 'Spin Art' stage set for the closing of the Olympic games, this year, Hirst has seen his career rise to meteoric heights, with many of his paintings and sculptures topping the million mark.

Damien follows in the footsteps of the good and the great such as Sir Peter Blake and fashion designer Dame Vivienne Westwood who have created the aspirational statuette handed out to winners at Britain's
equivalent to the Grammys. David Joseph the Brits Chairman said he was "delighted" that Hirst had agreed to "re-imagine" the award."He is truly one of the most important British artists ever and his unique vision will make winning a 2013 Brit an even more special proposition", he added.

The big question on everyone's lips is what will Hirst's Brit look like? ArtLyst has a few suggestions. How about pickling the fingers of  Keith Richards and suspending them in a slender formaldehyde filled vitrine. Or casting Pete Townshends nose in bronze and encrusting it with Swarovsky crystals. How about a mini spin art guitar. Why not a steely dan shaped prize painted with Hirst trademark spots. And finally a mini version of 'Verity' Hirst's controversial Devon sculpture but in the image of Lily Allen.

The show will be hosted by the Tony award winner James Corden once again. This marks his third year in a row.
