Damien Hirst & Rankin To Headline Nova Festival

Nova Festival set to showcase some of the UK’s most exciting visual art

Taking the biggest ideas and building a festival dedicated to those who love art and music, Nova aims to re-imagine the great British festival experience. Set in the stunning West Sussex countryside estate at Bignor Park, Nova is a small, 5,000 capacity, independent arts and music festival built on consideration and care for the smallest details and with the biggest ideas.

Nova will showcase some of the most exciting outdoor visual art in the UK and provide a platform for emerging and established artists to exhibit side by side. Nova aims to entice and enthral with a playground of interactive art, theatrical inventiveness, literary exploration, gastronomic excitement, secluded picnic spots, night-time illuminations, bonfires and musical treats.

Visual Art highlights include:

Rankin and Damien Hirst will be bringing their Myths, Monsters and Legends installations to life the woods of the Nova Festival ground. Featuring model Dani Smith, dreamt-up creatures from classical civilizations, myths, and fairy tales will come to life through Hirst’s otherworldly production and Rankin’s photography in a series of screenings.

English sculptor, performance artist, jewellery-maker, portraitist and painter Andrew Logan will showcase his work through a live jewellery making session with the attendees at Nova. Andrew’s work blends camp pop art and neo-romanticism to form a quintessentially English ‘eccentricity of vision’. Under Andrews guidance festival goers get a fantastic opportunity to create your own piece of jewellery using his distinctively unique mosaic techniques.

Most famous for filling Trafalgar Square with 30,000 bananas in 2004, Doug Fishbone will be bringing his own brand of Crazy Golf to Nova. Each hole on the course will be designed a different artist with contributions from Jake Chapman, Brian Griffiths, Gary Webb, Zatorski and Zatorski, and Pete Fowler.

London Drawing is a collaboration between professional artists, tutors and performers, led by Anne Noble-Partridge and David Price who aim to radically reinvent the traditional concept of drawing from life, using a combination of professional dancers and physical performers, sound, lighting, props, visual effects. London Drawing will offer an adventure in life drawing in a journey through line, across gesture and into the imagination for a unique and unforgettable drawing experience by using experimental drawing techniques and exciting drawing materials.
