Douglas Negrisolli Looks At Sao Paulo Art Exhibitions For September Part Two

The artist Francisco Hurtz presents the exhibition “ANTI-BODIES” at the Mezzanino Gallery presenting three series of works with sexuality / gender themes. At the same time the artist participates in THE NY ART BOOK FAIR, with two studies published in Secret Behavior (www.secretbehavior.com), which happens between 19-22/set at MoMA PS1 in New York (USA). In São Paulo, Hurtz presents a selection of drawings with male bodies and empty/blank spaces as focus of the narrative.

Mexican artist Ricardo Rendón works the possibilities of emptiness in his individual exhibition at Zipper Gallery. The artist works with drilling in materials such as felt, leather and cardboard, and the parties “subtracted” from the work continue to be part of that, recontextualized as vestiges of this emptying physical and temporal.

The photographer Ricardo Labastier presents dreams and mystery in exhibition cured by anthropologist and researcher Georgia Farm. In the show, Labastier transposes the “possibility of the ordinary meaning of life to the level of memory”, says the curator.

The artist Silvia Mecozzi exhibits a big installation using marble lining in the floor at Raquel Arnaud Gallery and a sculpture about 3 feet attached to the floor. According to Yuri Quevedo, who wrote the text to exhibition, “white and gray grooves in the marble become ethereal matter and sensual”.
