Frieze Masters is a unique art fair which presents a contemporary perspective on historical art. The fair features leading galleries showcasing art made before the year 2000, ranging from the ancient era and old masters to the late 20th century. See Participating Galleries exhibitor list below.

This year's highlights include:

Thomas Dane Gallery (Stand G02) is sharing with Corbet vs Dempsey again this year: the concept behind the stand is to imagine what it might have looked like in 1974 – what works would have been on display? The overarching theme is ‘Rumble in the Jungle’.

Hauser & Wirth (Stand B5) will present an outstanding group of early works by the Swiss artist Jean Tinguely (1925 – 1991). Tinguely is best known for his kinetic and mechanically animated sculptures that explore the aesthetics of movement. His sculptural machines were built of found or familiar objects and rudimentary parts, combining kineticism with wit and intelligence. On view will be important works from the 1950s and 1960s, including 'Métamatic' (1959-1960), a seminal example of his famous drawing machines.

For the first time, the Sprüth Magers (Stand G8) will participate in Frieze Masters this year with work by Bernd & Hilla Becher, Louise Lawler, Reinhard Mucha, Cindy Sherman and Rosemarie Trockel all created in the 1980s.

Victoria Miro (Stand D12) will present a solo presentation of works by Ian Hamilton Finlay at Frieze Masters. These four works have been curated by Pia Simig.

Mnuchin Gallery (Stand B6) will present a solo exhibition of acclaimed Abstract Expressionist American sculptor David Smith featuring the artist’s historic Forgings series (1955), his first solo show in London since his Tate Modern retrospective in 2006-07. The monolithic linearity of the Forgings demonstrates Smith’s groundbreaking use of industrial processes and materials. Working with Peter Stevens, Executive Director of The Estate of David Smith, Mnuchin Gallery will contextualise the Forgings with sculptures sharing their totemic quality, and works on paper.
