Hackney WickED: Elevator Gallery Unveils Tomorrow People: Artists of the Future Now

Hackney WickED

As a key feature during the ‘not to be missed’ Hackney WickED festival, Elevator Gallery presents The Tomorrow People: Artists of the Future Now, an annual group exhibition showcasing a curated selection of the best of emerging art in London.

The exhibition, which has been mounted since 2007 offers a platform to the most exciting current artists, supporting transgressive new work, including installation, sculpture, photography, painting, performance, and video. This year, the featured artworks operate between the poles of pleasure/desire and grotesque/abject. They force the viewer to contemplate these relations within the works of art themselves, and even within their own experience of viewing.

Elevator Gallery is an artist-run space committed to showcasing innovative and thought-provoking work by artists at all stages of their careers. As well as regular exhibitions of international contemporary art, the gallery has a regular programme of live art, cinema and musical events.

The Tomorrow People runs in conjunction with the Hackney WickED Art Festival, the launch of which takes place simultaneously at the opening on Friday evening. If you are to attend one festival this year this is your best bet!!!
